Have you thought about why you even want what you want, or rather if you truly know what you want at all?
This is an age old question, and it is essential to your internal and external freedom. People commonly say that desire brings suffering. But instead of taking this for face value, let’s examine our desires more closely.
This is where the Why Game comes in. Playing the Why Game is easy - just keep askingyourself “why” for each one of your desires until you get to the root. For example:
1. I want to lose weight. Why?
2. So I can feel good in my body and wear the type of clothes thatI want. Why?
3. So I can feel confident. Why?
4. Once I feel confident, I’ll be able to date more people, find mydream partner, and do more of what I want. Why?
5. Because I want to feel loved, fulfilled and happy.
You can also do this with the opposite question and get the sameresults. Why do you NOT want what you currently have?
1. I don’t want to have this little in my savings account. Why?
2. Because I feel stressed and worried about paying bills. Why?
3. I want to feel safe and at peace.
You can play this game with small, inconsequential daily cravings and annoyances as well as the big looming desires and fears in your life.
No matter how many times you play the Why Game, it always boils down to one thing.
What you want from your deepest desires and what you don’t want from your worst fears is the same: something I call Unconditional Freedom, which is the experience of deep, lasting peace, bliss, joy, and happiness.
So when you create your list of desires and goals, which may include things like achievements, relationships, money and more, what you are really writing down is that you want this feeling and experience of Unconditional Freedom.
This is what you really want from each desire, or item you may put on your manifestation list, or each vision board picture.
So it’s not that desires themselves bring suffering, but not knowing the truth behind them that brings suffering.
Getting good at playing the Why Game allows you to get to the root of the problem - by not knowing the truth behind what you really want, you misdirecting your attention, energy and efforts.
